For its autumn concert, KCS performs music from England, France and Germany. Holst’s Ode – his finest choral work – and Ravel’s beautiful orchestral suite Le Tombeau de Couperin were both written during the conflict in memory of lost friends.
Brahms’ Nänie, a setting of a funeral text by Schiller, contains some of his most ravishing music. These will be followed by Fauré’s timeless Requiem.
