Barnes Choir – Come and Sing Music for Royalty

The Barnes Choir will be holding their annual Come and Sing Workshop on Saturday 26 January 2019

A special choir will be formed for the day, with members of The Barnes Choir and guests. Julian Collings, our musical director, will be working intensively with us on the music, and will provide performance insights.

For the Handel, we will be working from the OUP edition of the score and for the Parry, we will be using the Novello editions. Scores can be hired for the day.

The timetable for the day is:

09:30 – 10:00 Registration (tea/coffee available)
10:00 – 13:00 Rehearsal with a break for tea/coffee
13:00 – 14:00 Lunch – bring your own or try one of Barnes’ many eateries
14:00 – 15:30 Rehearsal followed by break for tea/coffee
16:00 – 17:00 Performance (no dress code). Please invite family and friends – free of charge

We also have places available for singers to join the choir to perform the works, along with Purcell’s Funeral Sentences for Queen Mary and Tavener’s Song for Athene, on Saturday 23rd March 2019 at St Mary’s Barnes as part of the Barnes Music Festival. More details about joining us here.
