The story follows six months in the life of a young English teacher, Oliver, who is under investigation for having inappropriate relations with a female student. Due to the stress of the ongoing investigations he suffers a breakdown, and goes into a fugue state. When he comes out of it, he has no memory of the last six months of his life. As he regains his memories piece by piece, the truth is finally uncovered.
