Green Zone

September 11, 2021 By Anthony Kelly

Part of the charity remit for Kingston Arts is the well being of Kingston artists and residents, now, as we face daily updates on the environmental impact of modern life we felt it was import to have an opportunity for artists, members and the public to have the opportunity to meet with and network with local environmental groups to see how art can be used to raise this important issue.

Come along on October 10th to The Greenzone, normally held at Kingston Carnival in the grounds of All Saints Church. This year we’ve moved to Kingston Museum.
There will be Talks, Music, Stalls, Coffee Van, Children’s Entertainment, Workshops and Climate KAOS Art Exhibition.
Bring clothes for printing on & swapping, bring yourself for dancing, playing, conversation and connection.

Film Screening

September 14, 2021 By Anthony Kelly Leave a Comment

Kingston Arts is proud to host an exclusive film screening of three fantastic productions, directed and produced by our very own Kingston based JASON FITÉ, owner of PERACALS PRODUCTIONS. The films (2 shorts and a feature) will be followed by a Q&A with the director. This is a wonderful opportunity for media students and anyone else interested, to get an understanding of what is involved in film and media production. These films do have mature themes, thus parental guidance is advised for younger audience members.

7:15pm – 10:30pm Admission is Free

Location: The cornerHOUSE, 116 Douglas Road, Surbiton, Surrey KT67SB

Calling all musicians, dancers and even Ravers!

An evening of intuitive free dance, to the sound of a drum circle – no need to know or follow any steps or routines – simply find your rhythm in the beat!

If you are a musician, or fancying joining the drum circle, bring something to shake, rattle or roll (some drums provided though!), if you are a dancer or fancy finding out more about free dancing, simply bring yourself!

In conjunction with Kingston Arts, as part of the Kingston Arts Festival.

Held at Kingsgate church (which is to the right of – and on top of the Kings Tun Wetherspoons…), this may end up with some spontaneous harmonising and singing – and who knows what?

Whistlebow

September 11, 2021 By Anthony Kelly

Whistlebow was formed in the Spring of 2021 by three busy London musicians to combine music from the folk, early and jazz traditions. Using gentle amplification, they adapt well-known songs and melodies – such as The Larks they Sing Melodious and Pastime with Good Company – with unusual rhythms and harmonies: like a snapshot of England’s post-folk musical culture. On Monday 4th. October, we will be performing our first – eponymous – album, just after its official release date. We plan to make many more recordings! You can find out more about them by visiting https://whistlebow.com

Patricia Hammond – Voice

William Summers – Flute, Recorder, Crumhorn

Rupert Gillett – Cello, Guitar, Voice

William is the trio’s local musician, learning music in local schools and singing in the choir of All Saints’ Parish church. He runs regular concerts of early music in historical venues, and met Patricia while both were performing Bach cantatas in central London; Patricia also specialises in popular music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and has published She Wrote the Songs, which describes the work of female ‘parlour’ composers. She has also adapted and broadcast all genres of music during lockdowns on YouTube in Living Room Requests.  Rupert has invented ‘Jazz-Cello Tunes’ – a weekly series of adapted tunes on YouTube – and is active as a recording engineer, producer and arranger.

Location: YURT in the field next to Kingston Museum, Way, Kingston upon Thames KT1 2PS

Please click the button below to buy tickets via PayPal – please note the Yurt has a capacity of 30 and tickets are sold on a first come first served basis.
