On occasional Fridays and Sundays come down to the Open Mic at The Brave in Surbiton – a bit of a party atmosphere, and it goes on until late on the Friday!
Come down early to join the party! Music starts at 8pm or so. People tend to pre-book slots for this one, but the last hour or so is open to anyone, so if you haven’t signed up, we should be able to get you onstage!
We tend to get there at around 7pm to get the party started, so do come down early and join us.
Come down and enjoy an eclectic night, open to all styles of music. There will be a PA with foldback and a few decent mics and stands, some natty lighting and as always, a fully qualified sound engineer on hand.
Just bring your instrument and plug it in and rock out with us – down at “The Brave New World” – The Brave Bar in Surbiton!
We try to operate the night as fairly as possible – it’s advisable to book in advance for this one – message facebook.com/cubinoid to nab your spot! But do turn up early, please – This guarantees that even the first performer in front of the mic has an audience!
Is there a PA?
A PA is provided with a couple of decent mics and stands.
But does it sound any good?
Yes! The sound in the venue is vital to the nights Ben puts on – he evaluates the PA and the room before he puts on an event, as well as checking instruments sound as good as they can before you play and during your performance. He has been teaching sound engineering for over a decade and a half – you are in good hands.
Can I bring an amp?
Sure you can! There’s not a lot of room for one, but we’ll try to accomodate you if you really must have your stadium sound…
How long can I play for?
Usually, each slot is for about 15 minutes or so – three songs.
Is there going to be a drumkit?
There might be a little drumkit, or a cajon. Feel free to bring your own percussion though!
The Brave has a stage though, so there’s more space to spread out – we’ve had bands on the stage, with amps and everything!
